RAUTAHAT, SEPTEMBER 3

Over 90 per cent office bearers and members of CPN- UML district working committee have sided with CPN(Unified Socialist) in Rautahat.

Addressing a press conference organised by CPN(US), Rautahat, here today, Ramchandra Yadav, the chairperson of the party for Province 2, described the defection of a bulk of UML leaders and cadres in Rautahat to CPN (US) as positive and pleasant news.

"It's a matter of pride that 61 members of the 71-member strong district working committee have opted to join CPN(US)," said the newly launched party's provincial leader, while inaugurating the party office at BP Chowk today.

"The defection of almost the entire working committee of UML from Rautahat to the new party led by Madhav Kumar Nepal hints at the opportunity to bring all true communists to one place under the umbrella of our party, which came into being out of a revolt against Oli's tendency," Yadav said.

Former president of the Parliamentary Development Committee Kalyani Khadka argued that Nepal had to open a new party after UML Chair KP Sharma Oli unilaterally tried to remove members of the 89-strong central working committee from their posts.

CPN(US) in Rautahat today formed a 195-member district working committee and swore in the members.

According to party Secretary Laxman Regmi, the committee will be expanded in the future.

Various leaders, including MPs Samina Hussain, Hasima Khatun and Ram Kumar Bhattarai, and youth leader Shambhu Sah and Mitesh Mishra, were present at the meeting today.
