A model house for Chepang quake victim
Lamjung, February 14
A model house for a quake victim will be constructed at Chepangtar of Chhiti VDC in Lamjung.
The local Myangro Tree Resort operator Debendra Babu Tiwari had taken the initiative to construct the model house for Krishna Chepang Wagle, 65, of the VDC.
Krishna had lost his house to the devastating earthquake of April 25.
Nepali Army soldiers from Pashupati Battalion, locals, German and Canadian citizens, among others, will help construct an earthquake resistant house in the village.
Tiwari said that they would construct the earthquake resistant house to set an example in the village. “A message has to spread among the dwellers that with simple and cheap investment an earthquake resistant houses can be made,” he said. He added that the walls of the house could be made of mud.
Tiwari estimated a budget of three lakh for the construction of the house.
The villagers were thronging to see the under-construction house.
Meanwhile, Battalion Chief Sumangat Katwal of Pashupati Battalion said that the Nepali Army had played a prominent role in relief distribution and in rescuing victims after the earthquake.
Krishna’s life had worsened after the disaster. “I was ignored by my sons, but I am happy after Tiwari and army personnel helped in the construction of my house,” he added.
