Abducted UML cadre freed

Bhojpur, May 8:

Police recently freed Kedar Karki, a CPN-UML cadre from Bhulung VDC-5 in Bhojpur district, from the captivity of the Maoists.

He was abducted by CPN-Maoist cadres from his house 10 days ago after he failed to ‘donate’

Rs 1 lakh as demanded by the Maoists.

Karki reached the CPN-UML party office in district headquarters Bhojpur today.

He said Maoist cadres, including Pushpa Chaulagain, Indra Lamichhane, Kamal BK and others used to beat him with bamboo lathis everyday.

The Maoists accused him of preventing voters from exercising their franchise.

Karki said the Maoists released him on the condition that he would pay Rs 1 lakh to them.
