DHARAN: A joint team of Youth Force and Dharan Area Police Office rescued Amar Jimi of Sunsari's Mahendranagar, who was abducted last week, from Tinkune of Dharan today.

Six abductors, who had been asking a ransom of Rs 5.5 lakh to Jimi's family, were also held, said Dharan Youth Force chief Devhang Rai. Dipak Dhamala of Dharan-15, Raju Subba and Chhesang Lama of Terhathumare among those arrested. The police, however, have not mentioned the names of three others.

Rai said the abductors had already taken Rs 1.4 lakh as ransom. Police, acting upon a tip off from the victim's family, arrested them while they were trying to collect the remaining sum.
