Abolish monarchy first: Maoist leader
Pokhara, March 19:
Maoist central member and Gandaki zone bureau in-charge, Hitraj Pandey, today said that restructuring of the state was impossible until the abolition of monarchy and establishment of a federal democratic system.
Addressing a cultural gathering organised by the Gandaki chapter of the All Nepal Janasanskritik Federation, Pandey said: “It is essential to abolish monarchy and establish a republic to restructure the state.” He stressed the need for declaring the nation a republic before the CA polls.
Accusing domestic and foreign forces of trying to foil the CA polls and prevent the establishment of federal republic, he said: “These forces are raising the issues of weapons and the Maoists not returning seized land to spike the Maoists’ inclusion in the government.” He alleged the parties sticking to a status quo line are claiming that the CA polls cannot be held by mid-June.
A RSS report from Kavre quoted senior Maoist leader Mohan Baidhya as saying today that the CPN-Maoist was moving ahead with the peace process and working hard for building a new Nepal. Maoist central member Agni Sapkota also expressed his views at a programme organised in memory of seven artists who died in course of the people’s war at Anekot.
