Absconding murderer arrested after 17yrs
DHADING: Police in Dhading district on Tuesday made public a man arrested for his alleged involvement in a murder that took place 17 years ago, in Aginchok area of Tripura Sundari Rural Municipality-6.
Dhading District Police Office (DPO) identified the arrested as Madan Pariyar of Tripura Sundari-2 in the district.
Pariyar was arrested from Dhalko in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-17 on Monday, chief at the DPO, Superintendent of Police (SP) Raj Kumar Baidwar informed in a press conference held on Tuesday.
Pariyar was on the run after he allegedly thrashed a man who died later, in Aginchok area of Tripura Sundari-6 in Dhading, on June 22, 2002. Police said 64-year-old Lilaman Pariyar from Tandrang area in Bhimsen Rural Municipality-3 of Gorkha district was attending a wedding ceremony when he was beaten by Madan.
The absconding murderer has been arrested after 17 years, DSP Baidwar informed. He said the DPO has taken the arrested in custody for further investigation after extending the general date from the district court.
Police also made public two persons accused of stealing recharge cards and grocery items. Police identified the arrestees as Kamal Kumal (20) of Ratmate of Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality-1 and a child.
The duo were arrested for allegedly stealing cash Rs 2,000, grocery items worth Rs 47,000 and mobile phone recharge cards worth Rs 58,000 from a shop belonging to Dipendra Silwal, at Bandare in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, on July 3, last month.
