SIRAHA: At least three persons died on the spot and 15 others were injured after a truck hit a parked magic van along the East-West Highway road section at Lahan Municipality, Siraha, on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Bunu Maya Tamang, 45, of Dhangadimai Municipality, Ganapati Mahara, 42, of Golbazar Municipality, and Bachhiyadevi Ram, 70, of Bariyarpatti Rural Municipality of Siraha district, said police.

Police said the deceased were travelling in the van. According to police, the truck hit the van when passengers were getting off the van.

Six of the critically injured, were sent to Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences while others are receiving treatment at Lahan-based Ram Kumar Uma Prasad Memorial Hospital.

Police have taken the truck driver under control and further investigation into the accident is under way.
