Acharya lauds Nepal’s role in UN missions
Kathmandu, October 22:
The Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN, Madhu Raman Acharya, said today that over the years, the peacekeeping operations have contributed significantly to building the image of the UN as an effective body for maintaining peace in the world.
According to the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, New York, speaking today at the 60th session of the United Nations General Assembly on the agenda item concerning review of UN Peacekeeping Operations, Acharya highlighted Nepal’s role in the peacekeeping mission of the UN, and said that with avowed commitment to the principles and purposes of the UN charter, Nepal had been continuously participating in the UN peacekeeping operations since 1958 and it had contributed over 50,000 peacekeepers in 29 peacekeeping missions.
