Janakpurdham, December 3:

An unidentified armed gang this evening shot at Krishna Chandra Mishra, acting

local development officer, Mahottari. Mishra is also the chief of technical section at Mahottari DDC.

According to District Police Office, Dhanusha, an armed gang of five-six persons brought Mishra out of his house in Anandanagar, Janakpur municipality-4, before shooting him in his chest. Mishra is undergoing treatment in Janakpur zonal hospital. Mishra, whose condition is reported to be critical, will be airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment, according to the police. “A chopper has already been called to airlift Mishra to Kathmandu,” police said. SP Yadav Raj Khanal said the search for assailants was on.

Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha — Rajan (JTMM-R) faction has owned up the incident. Mishra was shot on the charge of misappropriating funds in the Mahottari DDC, it said.

Despite mobilising a large number of security personnel, police were yet to make any arrest till late night.
