'Adopt lawful procedure for NSU polls'

Kathmandu, August 12

Nepal Press Union representatives, who arrived in the capital from different parts of the country, have pressed the NSU leadership and the leadership of the parent party β€” the Nepali Congress β€” to adopt lawful procedures in the NSU election.

The representatives attending the ongoing 19th general convention of the NSU have accused the party leadership of conspiring to handpick the new leadership.

During an interaction today, Anand Raj Tripathi, a candidate for NSU president, claimed that efforts were being made to block the elected representatives in the NSU. β€œThe party leadership must abide by the lawful procedures in this regard,” he said.

Vice-chairman candidate from province 5 Dharma Raj Khanal blamed the party leadership of trying to handpick new leaders merely because some of the NSU cadres were staging a fast-unto-death.
