Adverse weather hits life hard
Dhading, January 25
Life has been adversely affected due to excessive cold followed by rainfall and snow in the northern parts of Dhading.
Che Ghale, a local, said people were confined to their houses and could not step out to carry on with their normal activities due to snowfall yesterday.
Snowfall was heavy in Tipling, Sertung, Ree, Lapa, Satyadevi, Jharlang and Darkha villages of the district.
Ram Bahadur Tamang of Ree village said, “Cold had increased after snowfall,” adding that this had prevented the villagers from getting out of their houses.
Earthquake victims who are living in makeshift tents and huts found themselves at the receiving end as the mercury dipped.
Hem Thapa at Tipling said the tents could not resist the cold winds. “We fear that excessive cold might claim lives,” he said.
With the bone-biting cold affecting children and elderly the most, district folks are wondering how long their leaking huts will shield them from the adverse weather condition.
