‘Children of the year’ declared

Kathmandu, October 25:

The Bir Ganesh Man Singh Fund today declared Udesh Pandey, Raj Acharya and Shreeash Agrawal the “Children of the Year” for exhibiting extraordinary talent in various genres.

The fund was instituted in 2055 BS in memory of the Late Ganesh Man Singh, the father of democracy.

It was set up with a view to imparting the path of dedication and nationality that Ganesh Man

Singh had shown by felicitating as well as awarding children in various genres.

Declaring the children of the year, renowned critic Krishna Chandra Singh Pradhan said the

tradition of awarding children, the future of the country, is laudable.

The awards will immmortalise Ganesh Man Singh, the veteran democratic fighter, for his role in the establishment and consolidation of democracy.

Former Minister and NC-D General Secretary Prakash Man Singh pointed out the need to materialise the dream of Ganesh Man Singh, who envisioned a prosperous and democratic Nepal.

He also stressed the need to follow the righteous path of Singh, who never deviated from his political principles and ideology.

Also speaking at the programme were chairman of the fund Rita Singh Baidya, Dr Madhav Prasad Pokharel of the Prize Jury, vice-chairman of the fund Bal Mukundaman Singh and joint secretary of the fund Prachanda Raj Pradhan. Each child would be given away a life-size silver statue of Ganesh Man Singh along with Rs 25,000.
