‘King must return power’

Tansen, April 20:

Joint general secretary of the Nepali Congress Dr Ram Saran Mahat today said the democratic movement would not rest until the King corrected his past mistakes. Addressing a mass meeting organised by the Joint People’s Movement Committee, Palpa, in Tansen today, Mahat said the country and the people do not need a King who ignores the feeling and sentiments of the people.

The mass meeting was attended by over 25,000 people who had come from over 50 VDCs of the district. Dr Mahat said the people were sovereign during the 12 years of democracy and there are several examples of good deeds done for the people during the democratic period after 1990.

CPN-UML standing committee member Yubaraj Gyawali said the seven-party alliance wanted to go for an election to a constituent assembly under the 1990 constitution after restoring

the parliament. Various leaders of the political parties including Rajesh Shrestha, Tul Bahadur Adhikari, Bishnu Bhusal, Rameshwor Panthi, Narayan GC, Madav Nepal and Som Kumar Karki addressed the gathering.
