Tanahun, March 26:
Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Durga Shrestha, speaking at a programme organised by the Reporters’ Club in Damauli today, said journalists were free to write and publish any kind of news. “The government has not barred journalists from writing any kind of news,” she said, adding, however, that the news should be objective and encouraging. “At a difficult time like this, only the journalists can make the truth public.” Replying to a query, Shrestha said FM news broadcast was banned because FM stations were spreading terror by transmitting exaggerated versions of events. She said that the government was launching a separate relief programme for conflict-hit women and children.
