‘People’s supremacy must’
Kathmandu, September 4:
President of the Nepal Bar Association Shambhu Thapa today said people’s supremacy should be a must to achieve sustainable peace in the country. Speaking at an interaction organised by the Professional Alliance for Peace and Democracy (PAPAD), he said: “People’s supremacy should be the main agenda while putting civic pressure on the state to restore democratic process.” PAPAD chairman Dr Sudha Sharma, who is also the president of the Nepal Medical Association, said the alliance has sentimental attachment with the movement launched by the political parties to restore democracy in the country. She said the alliance will soon hold a peace rally. President of the Nepal Teachers’ Union Keshav Bhattarai said PAPAD had a tough job to play at a time when the state power, politics, beliefs and assumptions are fluid.
