The government of Province 1 has said it will bear the treatment cost of Durga Prasad Timsina of Mai Municipality, Ilam, who returned home after spending 40 long years in Indian prisons.
Having spent four decades in confinement, Durga Prasad is in feeble health, and according to Internal Affairs and Law Minister Hikmat Karki, preparations for his treatment have started.
"The government has instructed the chief district officer of Ilam to coordinate with Durga Prasad's family and start his treatment," Karki said, adding proper treatment would start after his health preliminary health check-up.
Further, Minister Karki also revealed that the government would take the necessary initiatives to seek compensation from the Indian government in the case of Durga Prasad's long incarceration.
CDO Dhruv Khadka of Ilam said the process of treatment for Durga had begun as per the minister's instruction.
