Agitating doc’s health deteriorates

Panchthar, January 15

Dr Govind KC, who has been on a fast-unto-death seeking reform in the health sector, is not doing well. His health has been deteriorating with each passing day.

Citing serious complications in his lungs, doctors at Ilam Hospital   have pointed out the need to immediately admit him either to the CCU or ICU. While an infection has been reported in his lungs, which has led to breathing problems, his heart beats are said to be irregular.

In view of his failing health, the agitating doctor was shifted to Ilam Hospital from his original strike site in Captain Surendra Limbu’s house in Phulgachhi yesterday.

“As he has refused to take medicine, the same has complicated things,” said Acting Medical Superintendent Dr Bijendra Kumar Sah at the hospital.

“As we don’t have ICU ward in our hospital, we had tried to use emergency drugs but couldn’t do so as the doctor was not ready to take emergency drugs,” Sah added.

Further, according to Dr Sah, the agitating doctor’s blood pressure was last recorded at 90/60 and pulse at 35.

“After suffering from cough last night, he can’t speak even when he tries to,” said civil society leader and KC’s special aide Dharma Gautam, adding he is on saline water and oxygen.
