Agitators torch 3 trucks laden with sugar in Bara

RAUTAHAT: Agitating cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front set three trucks laden with sugar on fire for defying curfew in Bara on Saturday.

Police said that the trucks (Na 5 Kha 2995, Na 5 Kha 8761 and Na 4 Kha 2927) that had left for Kathmandu from the Reliance Sugar and Chemical Industries in Shreepur, Manaharawa-5 were torched by the agitators along the Kalaiya-Piluwa road section this morning.

According to Rajesh Pandey, manager of the Reliance Sugar Mill, as soon as the trucks left for Kathmandu from the Mill, a group of 20-25 persons intercepted the trucks, assaulted the drivers and torched the vehicles.

He informed that property worth around Rs 3.3 million was destroyed in the arson.

SP Lokendra Malla informed that two trucks were completely gutted in the incident.

Police said that they are looking into the case.
