Govt used excessive force in Tarai protest: AI
KATHMANDU: The government used excessive force during the five-month protest in the southern plains of Nepal, in which at least 65 persons were killed, stated a report by Amnesty International (AI) Nepal.
The report made public by AI Nepal Chairman Surya Bahadur Adhikari in the Capital today stated that the government also violated rights of migrant workers in the protest.
The 408-page global report comprises incidents of human rights violation committed in 160 countries.
Total 60 million people have been displaced across the globe, while 156 human rights defenders were killed, stated the report.
Likewise, people of 122 countries were tortured, it reads.
