Air services disrupted in eastern hilly districts

Biratnagar, July 19:

Due to continuous rainfall, daily flights of the Royal Nepal Airlines to many eastern hilly districts have been disrupted since last Tuesday. Hundreds of passengers bound to these districts have been stranded in Biratnagar due to disruption of air services to Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha and Taplejung. Only RNAC operates limited flights to these places. Station manager of RNAC, Biratnagar, Gopal Koirala said the flights have been cancelled due to unfavourable weather. RNAC operates daily flights to Rumjatar of Okhaldhunga, Lamidanda of Khotang, Bhojpur, Tumlingtar of Sankhuwa-sabha and Taplejung from Biratnagar. Koirala said RNAC had to suspend the flights as most of the airports in the region have been submerged in water. Koirala said flights from Kathmandu were also affected

today due to bad weather. Meanwhile, the Authority in Biratnagar said Taplejung and Rajbiraj airports have been closed for three months from July 1 keeping in view the rainy season.
