ANFSU wins election in PU
Pokhara, April 5
CPN-UML-aligned All Nepal Free Student Union won majority of seats in the Free Student Union elections held for the first time at Pokhara University.
As per the results of the elections held yesterday, ANFSU won nine of the 11 first-past-the-post positions, ceding two seats to Nepali Congress-aligned Nepal Student Union.
ANFSU’s Sunil Timilsina secured 845 votes and was elected chairperson, against NSU candidate Diphan Bhujel. Timilsina is also the ANFSU Central Committee chairperson of Pokhara University.
Similarly, ANFSU’s Suraj Pariyar grabbed the post of secretary by securing 914 votes. ANFSU’s Prakriti Dawadi won the post of treasurer. Besides, ANFSU’s Ashish KC, Ghanashyam Dumre, Naresh Khanal, Binod Budha, Yamuna Chhetri and Sandesh Timilsina and NSU’s Ganesh Rimal and Saroj Shah were elected as members of the student body.
Of the total 2,131 voters at the university, 1,770 votes were cast in the poll. ANFSU and Socialist Student Forum had formed an alliance to take on the alliance of NSU and ANISU Revolutionary.
