SAPTARI: A shopkeeper here in Rajbiraj was arrested on Monday on the charge of selling petroleum products on the black market.

Ranjit Das (30), from Boriya VDC-7 in Saptari district, was reportedly hoarded 23 litres of petrol to sell it at a higher rate than the market price at his shop in Rajbiraj-6, in the district, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dan Bahadur Karki.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team deployed from the District Police Office, Saptari arrested Das.

Das will now face action as per the existing law, DSP Karki said.
