KATHMANDU: World climbers are all set to attempt to stand atop Ama Dablam in Khumbu region of eastern Nepal after a five-member rope fixing team successfully reached the summit of 6,812 metre-peak on Friday.

According to Lakpa Sherpa, co-owner of 8K Expeditions, Ashok Lama, Datuk Bhote, Wongda Sherpa and Pasang Tenji Sherpa stood atop the summit of the mountain at around 1:21pm. "The 8K Expeditions team first reached the summit while fixing the ropes from Camp II," Sherpa shared.

Expedition Operator Association Nepal has assigned 8K to fix the ropes on Ama Dablam this season. After they open the route to the summit, other climbers who obtained permits from the Department of Tourism (DoT) under Nepal's Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation could ascend to the summit of Ama Dablam now.

DoT record shows that at least 38 foreigners along with their support staff have obtained climbing permits for the mountain. EoAN says that they have already reached the base camp to attempt to climb Ama Dablam.
