RAUTAHAT, FEBRUARY 17

Armed Police Force personnel have arrested a person on charges of illegally importing exorbitant, branded watches from neighbouring India, in Rautahat district, on Tuesday night.

The offender has been identified as Nizzamuddin Khan,18, of Pokharaiya in Gaur Municipality-5.

APF personnel deployed at the Indo-Nepal border checkpoint in Ishnath Municipality-4 of the district found Khan in possession of 14 luxury watches as he was arrested by the border force in course of illegally entering Nepal, according to Battalion No 11 of the APF.

The price of the confiscated luxury 'Rado' watches has been estimated to be around 2.5 million rupees.

Based on preliminary investigation, police have revealed that Khan was paid a sum of Rs 3,000 to illegally bring into Nepal the aforementioned items by an Indian national from the state of Bihar, as stated by Superintendent of Police (SP) Surya Sen Bali of the APF.

The seized watches have been handed over to the Gaur custom office for further investigation into the matter.
