The Armed Police Force (APF) has seized firecrackers worth Rs 2.7 millions from Malangawa in district headquarters of Sarlahi, on Wednesday night.
Acting on a special tip-off, the APF had raided a two-room, tin-roofed, makeshift shelter near a brick kiln in Ganeshia Chaur of Malangawa Municipality-4 at 7:40 PM on Wednesday night and seized a large quantity of firecrackers.
According to Superintendent of Police of APF, Dev Khanal, the commander of the APF No. 10 Battalion, the firecrackers were stored to be sent to various parts of Nepal.
The seized firecrackers are estimated to be worth around Rs 2,777,552. The firecrackers include items like "Jhilmili," "Cobra," "Phuljhari," "Radha Chakra," and "Kadam," among others.
It has been reported that the firecrackers were smuggled from Indian markets across the border for use during the Dashain and Tihar festivals in Nepal and were being prepared for distribution.
The necessary legal actions have been initiated after bringing the seized firecrackers to the battalion, SP Khanal added.
