Armed gang whisks away businessman

ATTARIYA: An armed group abducted Bishnu Kunwar, a businessman of Malakheti-7, in a rather filmy manner from Attariya Bazaar yesterday.

Following the abduction, the victim family and local businessmen closed Attariya for six hours and also halted traffic along the Bhimdutta Pant Highway.

Some seven persons, who arrived in a red jeep, had kidnapped Kunwar at 7:45 pm.

According to police,

no individual or group has owned up to the incident while there has been no demand for ransom.

“Kunwar was shaking hands with two persons in waiting room along the highway and the abductors put him inside their vehicle and took him eastwards in no time,” Tej Deuba, an eyewitness said, adding, “Kunwar had arrived in the waiting room in his own motorbike.”

“The gang carrying pistols had first asked Kunwar for his identity, may be for confirmation,” Deuba said, adding that he could not read the vehicle’s number plate as the incidents unfolded in a jiffy.

Jit Bist of Attariya, a pillion rider on KUnwar’s motorbike, however, managed to flee after the gang tried to hold him too, Deuba added.
