Army personnel sustains injury while disposing bomb in Pokhara

POKHARA: An army personnel sustained injuries while defusing an explosive device near Gandaki Provincial Assembly Building, Nadipur in Pokhara on Thursday morning.

Nepal Army's Ratna Mandir based Kalibhanjyang Battalion's corporal, Dharma Bahadur Thapa, injured the palm and fingers of his left hand while trying to defuse the bomb planted near the provincial assembly building.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabindra Man Gurung, Spokesperson at Kaski District Police Office, injured Thapa is being treated at Fish Tail Hospital in Pokhara.

Kaski Police informed that they found two other explosive devices near Lekhnath army camp in the metropolis.

DSP Gurung said that the bomb near the army camp was defused by a bomb disposal squad of Nepal Army.

Police have suspected the involvement of Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led Communist Party of Nepal in planting of the explosives.

The nationwide bandh announced by the party has had minimal effect on Pokhara, on Thursday. Police have been deploying its forces in various areas for monitoring.
