Arrest warrants not accepted
Janakpur, February 4:
Leaders and activists of the seven-party alliance who were arrested on February 1 from a ‘Black Day’ demonstration did not accept the arrest warrants issued against them by the District Administration Office.
The detainees being lodged at the Armed Police Company of the Zonal Police Office, Janakpur, issued a joint statement today saying they were given arrest warrants dated February 2 under Article 3 (1) of Local Administration Act. The detainees refused to accept the warrant and demanded warrants dated February 1.
Detainees, including Santosh Kumar Yadav of Nepali Congress, Digambar Rai of NC-D and Ram Charitra Shah of CPN-UML, had issued the joint statement. Police claimed the detainees had been given arrest warrants within 24 hours of their arrests, as per the legal provision.
