KANCHANPUR/KHASYULI: Telecommunications service provider Ncell's tower at Asaina of Shuklaphanta Municipality-4 in Kanchanpur district came under arson attack last night.

Police said, unidentified persons broke the lock of the fence gate to the tower and set the structure on fire.

"The electric and communication cables and board of the tower have been found burnt. We immediately reached the incident site after getting information from Ncell's Dhangadhi office that its tower at Asaina has become dysfunctional and found that there had been an arson attack," Inspector of Police at the Area Police Office, Jhalari, Ramesh Datta Awasthi, said.

Police found a leaflet at the site which stated that the arson attack was carried out as Ncell disobeyed the Supreme Court's order, did not pay tax to the government and failed to invest in Nepal despite earning profits.

Police said they are looking for the attackers.

Likewise, another Ncell tower has also been set on fire at Katawa of Gaurahawa Rural Municipality-3 in Rupandehi district. The arson attack took place Friday night.

Cables and other equipment at the tower have been destroyed by the fire, Police Inspector at Suryapura-based Police Post, Jibaraj Chundali, said.

Ncell telecommunications services around Suryapura have been obstructed due to the arson attack. Police have further informed that an investigation into the incident has begun.
