Aspiring teachers killed in Trishuli bus accident

In pursuit of her dream, Sandhya, accompanied by her son Sushant, boarded a bus from Gaur to sit for the exam of the Education Service Commission slated to be held on Thursday in Pokhara.

She was killed when the bus plunged into the Trishuli River at Kalikhola of Chitwan’s Chandibhanjyang.
“My sister had left for Pokhara one day in advance so that she could prepare for the exam,” Sandhya’s brother Sudhir said. According to Sudhir, Sandhya’s son Sushant survived the incident.
Five youths from Mudwal VDC, who had boarded the same bus to appear for the Education Service exam, were also killed, leaving the entire Mudwal VDC in mourning.
Chitra Ranjan Yadav was working as a temporary teacher at Nemdhari Higher Secondary School Mudwal for the past seven years. He planned to sit for the Education Service Exam to qualify as a permanent teacher, and had boarded the same bus.
“My son hoped to uplift his family’s financial condition by becoming a permanent teacher. I could not believe my ears when I heard of his death in the morning,” Yadav’s father Harendra said.
Chitra Ranjan Yad is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons.
Rabi Ranjan Yadav, 30, Rajesh Prasad Yadav, 35, Ram Balak Sah Kalwar, 33 and Mukesh Ram, 25 from the same VDC were killed in the accident. A local Rakesh Yadav said, “The village has lost educated youths.”
Deceased Pramod Ram, 24, of Mahamdpur-8, Rakesh Yadav, 30, of Pipara Rajwada, Bajra Shikor Kushawa, 29 of Katahariya, Ganesh Kumar Sah, 28 of Basatpur, Jogendra Giri, 24 of Inarwa, Kameshwor Sah, 24, of Rajpur Tulshi and Sekh Salim Alam of Gaurda in Rautahat were also headed for Pokhara to appear for the exam.
