Assistant driver killed in Baitadi truck accident
KATHMANDU: A person was killed and two others sustained serious injuries in a truck accident in Baitadi district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as the truck's assistant driver Kishor Singh Airi (19) of Srikot VDC-3 and the injured as the truck driver Mohan Raj Joshi (Approx 24) and Sagar Chand (21), both the residents of Srikot VDC-4 in the district, Inspector Kamal Bista of District Police Office told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
The incident occurred when the ill-fated truck (Na 3 Kha 5723) fell 20 metres below the road onto a river bed at Chamatadi, Sittadh- 2 along the Punjyunaya-Satbhanj route under the Mahakali Highway, at around 7:00 pm yesterday, according to police. Joshi inflicted serious injuries to his eyes, forehead and chest while Chand sustained injuries to his head, eyes and legs.
The accident had inflicted serious injuries to Joshi's eyes, forehead and chest while Chand had sustained injuries in his head, eyes and legs.
Airi succumbed to the injuries on the way in Satbhanj area in the district while being rushed to Dhangadhi for treatment. His body has been taken to the Baitadi District Hospital for postmortem.
Police are yet to ascertain the causes that led to the accident.
