Attackers of Mayor Chaudhary released on bail
DHANGADHI: The attackers of Mayor Mamata Prasad Chaudhary of Ghodaghodi Municipality in Kailali district have been released on bail.
The District Court, Kailali has given the order to release four perpetrators on general date and to post bail amount of Rs 45,000 each, and to release one of them on a general date, according to Chief at Kailali District Police Office, Superintendent of Police Binod Ghimire.
Kamal Chettri (40) of Lakshmipur, Ghodaghodi Municipality-1, Bharat Bahadur Shah (36) of Ghodaghodi Municipality-9, Purna Prasad Khanal (30) of Ghodaghodi Municipality-8, Hridaya Raj Bogati (30) of Tikapur Municipality-1, and Narendra BK (30) of Lamkichuha Municipality-6 have been released.
Meanwhile, police investigation has indicated that all of them are cadres belonging to Nepal Communist Party.
Earlier, the assailants had attacked Mayor Chaudhary at his residence in Sukhkhad Bazaar on the night of March 12. The group, who had reached Chaudhary’s residence, had called him outside and fired shots at him inflicting injuries in his legs and waist, and injured his head with a khukuri.
Critically injured Chaudhary had been rushed to Nepalgunj for further treatment after receiving primary treatment in Ghodaghodi. On March 13, he had arrived in Kathmandu for treatment at TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj.
