KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 27
The body of 34-year-old Anup Rai of Sankhuwasabha, who died in an avalanche on Monday at the base camp of Mt Manaslu in north Gorkha, was airlifted to Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Lilaraj Lamichhane shared that Rai's body was sent to the capital by a helicopter after a long effort. Rai's body was brought to Samagaon first and then sent to Kathmandu.
According to the police, the body will be handed over to the family for the funeral after the post-mortem at the Maharajganj-based TU Teaching Hospital.
It may be noted that 13 people had gone missing since the avalanche struck on Monday. Among the missing, 12 people were rescued safely. Unfortunately, Rai could not be saved.
