Bhattarai calls for unity to end deadlock
Pokhara, February 6
Naya Shakti Party Coordinator Baburam Bhattarai today said the rift among political forces had overshadowed constitution implementation.
Speaking at a book launch programme in Pokhara today, Bhattarai argued that the power struggle among political forces had put constitution implementation in jeopardy. “There is no alternative to holding elections following constitution amendment to address the concerns of disgruntled communities,” argued Bhattarai and urged all forces to forge unity to end the current deadlock.
He said the country was unable to witness significant progress due to the lack of change in the political system and leaders. “The constitution is not a permanent document and should be changed as per the need of the hour. As our new charter didn’t address the concerns of ethnic communities and Madhesi people, it should be amended to establish the fundamental rights of those communities,” said leader Bhattarai.
“Constitution promulgation is a great achievement of the second people’s movement. Hence, all the parties and public should be unite for effective implementation of the statute,” he said.
Meanwhile, RPP leader Lokendra Bahadur Chand advised the disgruntled forces to seek their rights democratically.
