BAJURA, MARCH 29

The victims of the Bajura earthquake, which occured last month on February 22, have been provided relief materials worth in excess of 3.5 million rupees by Kathmandu-based Shanti Sewa Griha.

Relief supplies including 50 tents, 400 sleeping bags, clothes and lito among others have been provided to the earthquake distressed, according to Shanti Sewa Griha country director Heiko Grospietch.

The aid provided by the organization has been a great help in troubling times, shared ward chairperson of Gaumul rural municipality, Hari Bahadur Rokaya.

The organization has also taken the responsibility to nurture and educate Saroj Rokaya (aged seven) in Kathmandu, whose mother Jamuna Rokaya passed away in the earthquake. The child is a resident of ward no 2 of the local level.

Shanti Sewa Griha informed that the organization plans to construct damaged houses in the long term meanwhile transforming the local level into a sample village (Namuna Basti).

It has been learnt the Gaumal RM in the district has been most affected by the earthquake wherein 570 among 1,650 families have been displaced.

Shanti Sewa Griha is an aid organisation registered with the Social Welfare Council. It is the cooperation partner for Shanti Leprahilfe Dortmund e.V. and manages social facilities that were founded for needy people in the Kathmandu valley.
