BAJURA, DECEMBER 21

A man from Bajura, who was waiting for a long time for his treatment in a hospital in Dhangadi for want of money, has finally received assistance for the treatment.

Min Bahadur Shahi of Jukot, Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality, has now undergone an operation with the fund raised by philanthropists after a news report was published about his plight in this daily.

Earlier, this daily had carried a news report about Shahi's plight. Shahi, a kidney patient, was stranded in Nisarga Hospital and Research Centre of Dhangadi for want of money. He was unable to pay treatment expenses accrued from an earlier time and had to undergo operation of both his kidneys, but as he was out of fund, he was stranded in the hospital.

According to Min Bahadur's relative Devendra Shahi, Min Bahadur has had his treatment and operation now with the money collected in assistance.

"While we have got a decent amount, about three lakh rupees as assistance for his treatment, the hospital has also given some discount on the operation and ICU fees and medicine bill after the publication of the news report, which was a great help," said Devendra.

Though the hospital had discharged Min Bahadur asking him to return to the hospital after a month to have an operation of his kidneys, he couldn't clear the treatment bill and had been staying at the hospital itself. After the publication of the THT report about Min Bahadur's plight, his kin had launched a campaign to save him. The campaign had collected 282,900 rupees from philanthropists from both home and abroad.

Min Bahadur's parents are old and unable to work.

The family is identified as a first category poor family by the government. Min Bahadur has had surgery of both his kidneys to remove stones formed inside. According to doctors, one of his kidneys has already stopped working.

Min Bahadur and his kin have extended their sincere gratitude for the 'great' help rendered to him for his treatment.
