Bajura man ill with diarrhoea, dehydration receives treatment at local health facility

BAJURA: Freed haliya Khale Luwar of Budhinanda Municipality-1, who was suffering from severe diarrhoea and dehydration, is currently undergoing treatment at a local health facility in Bajura.

It has been learnt that Khale, 69, did not even have the access to jeevanjal (oral rehydration salts) while he suffered from excessive diarrhoea for the last three days.. He was later transferred to Kolti Primary Health Centre for treatment.

Dr Rajuraj Jaisi -- chief doctor at Kolti Primary Health Centre, and Meena Gurung who resides in the UK have coordinated for Khale's treatment after the news was published in the newspaper.  As soon as we came to know of his plight, he was brought to the health centre, informed Dr Jaisi.

"The man was unable to seek help due to difficult financial circumstances, therefore, I came forward with support," stated Meena Gurung.

Khale was severely dehydrated due to persistent diarrhoea. It has been learnt that villagers took him to the health facility. However, they had to journey back home as they were unable to buy medicines at the health centre.

Sita Sunar, spouse of the patient, was brought to tears as she stated that she was unable to collect any money even after trying to pawn her nose ring.

Although the government had promised free medical care for those in need, they have failed to abide by it, a local lamented.
