Jagannath Rural Municipality of Bajura district has initiated regular health services for the first time.

Chair of the rural municipality, Kali Bahadur Shahi, informed that the service was initiated with assistance from Dr Jasmita Balampaki, who has been deputed to the rural municipality under contract.

Chair Shahi inaugurated the health facility on Thursday.

The health facility began operation with services including regular check-up, counselling, and distribution of medicines. Likewise, it will provide other services such as Out Patient Department (OPD) facility, dressing and suturing, incision and drainage, check-ups related to Covid-19, among others.

The hospital currently holds a five-bed capacity and will address Covid-related issues. Chief District Officer Binod Gaire informed that it will provide regular health services despite being operated as a Covid-19 facility.

Employment coordinator at the rural municipality, Laxman Joshi, shared that the hospital also provides laboratory services.

Currently, it has one MBBS certified doctor, two staff nurses and one office assistant for service delivery. The rural municipality informed that addition to human resources will be made as per necessity.
