Bakraha Khola flood displaces 30 Morang families
URLABARI: As many as 30 households have been displaced after the Bakraha Khola River entered a human settlement in Itahara of Morang district on Sunday.
The incessant rainfall had swollen the river, resulting into displacement of the settlement in Jayanagar of Itahara-3.
The affected families have been staying with their relatives or near the banks of river since then.
A dam across the river, which reportedly burst last Wednesday, had caused the water to overflow into the village, said SI Sitaram Bhandari of Itahara Police Station.
The flooded river also inundated around 300 houses in wards 3, 4 and 5 of the VDC and destroyed crops.
Meanwhile, the flood victims complained that the local administration was ignoring their plight.
It has been further learnt that no relief or rescue has yet been provided.
"We are living in a constant fear as the rainfall does not seem to stop anytime soon," said Chandrakala Rijal, a local of Itahara-3.
