KATHMANDU, MARCH 7

Balendra (Balen) Shah, a senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has won the Jhapa constituency-5 election even before the official announcement, as the margin of votes exceeds the remaining votes. In this constituency, where 106,372 votes were cast, only 24,254 votes remain to be counted.

Balen leads CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli by a margin of 38,065 votes. This means that if all 24,254 votes remaining in the ballot box go in Oli's favour, it is mathematically impossible to prevent Balen's victory, even if he does not receive one vote.

According to election calculations, the margin of votes is already 13,811 more than the remaining votes, ensuring Balen's historic victory even before the official results are announced.
