KATHMANDU, MARCH 6
Among the 15 mountainous districts, transportation of ballot papers remains pending in three districts-Sankhuwasabha, Dolpa and Gorkha, said the Election Commission (EC).
Ballot papers for these districts have not been transported yet owing to adverse weather conditions.
Kul Bahadur GC, Assistant Spokesperson of EC, told RSS that plans to transport these ballot papers by helicopter were thwarted by ongoing weather challenges.
Arrangements were made to transport ballot papers and other essential election materials to the mountainous districts through helicopters for the March 5 election to the House of Representatives members
Efforts are underway to deliver the ballots to the respective Offices of the Election Officers once weather conditions improve. Vote counting will begin thereafter.
Meanwhile, ballot papers from other mountainous areas of districts such as Rasuwa, Dolakha, Rukum East, Bajura, Bajhang, Humla, Taplejung, Manang, Mustang, Rukum West, Solukhumbu and Mugu and Bajura have already been transported to the respective Election Officers' offices.
The EC has also issued instruction to commence vote counting in constituency no 1 in Syangja, Dolakha and Dhanusha districts in accordance with the legal procedures.
The EC, however, directed the Office of the Chief Election Officer in Dhanusha to keep separately the votes that have been cast to the 'Bell' election symbol (belonging to the Rastriya Swatantra Party) in constituency no 1 of Dhanusha district and carry out vote counting accordingly.
