Ban on riding pillion opposed

People have urged the local administration to scrap the ban on pillion-riding.

“The decision to ban pillion-riding is illegitimate,” said Moti Lal Poudel, president, Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Surkhet. FNJ members will defy the ban, he said. “The ban has deprived the people of their rights,” Shiv Prasad Gautam, chairman of Surkhet PCO union, said.

He urged the administration to scrap the ban on pillion-riding. Kamlesh DC, chairman of the Human Rights Preservation Forum, Surkhet, said: “The government took such a decision because it is unsure about its security.”
