BARA: Police in Bara arrested a fugitive absconding for 34 years from Kalaiya Sub Metropolitan City-10 of the district.

According to Bara District Police Office (DPO), Lakhichan Saha Kalwar of Pheta Rural Municipality-3 had been on the run since he beat up local Amal Dev Yadav to death in a dispute over land property. Critically injured in the fight, Yadav became unconscious and succumbed to injuries on the way to a hospital, police informed.

It has been reported that absconding Kalwar was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Supreme Court on August 21, 2003.

Acting on a tip-off that Kalwar, who had been doing business in India during his hideout had entered Nepali land, police apprehended him from Nilakantha are in the district, the DPO informed.

Arrestee Kalwar was presented before the District Court and sent to Birgunj Prison for fulfilling his prison term on Wednesday.
