Nepalgunj, June 27:

India has agreed to the opening of the sluice gate of the Lakshmanpur barrage over Rapti River. A meeting was held between officials of India and Nepal today to discuss the matter.

Not opening the sluice gate would cause flood in over a dozen VDCs of Banke. The meeting, apart from agreeing to open the sluice gate, decided that the two countries would exchange information about weather, flood threat and rainfall, said Nepal’s representative at the meeting Krishna Acharya.
