Tamghas, January 12:

The people of Gulmi are irritated by the construction of iron barricades at all four transit points to Tamghas, the district headquarters. Local authorities said the barricades were placed to provide security to the people.

The people coming to Tamghas from Argakhanchi, Tansen and the western part of the district are facing difficulties. Two iron barricades have been placed at Badheman, the main entry to Tamghas at a distance of one kilometre, while two other fences have been constructed at the entry to Old Bazaar and near Tamghas hospital respectively. The locals say security forces have been blocking roads in the name of providing security to about six government offices in Tamghas.

“The construction of barricades is only giving unnecessary trouble to the local people,” a prominent businessman said. Security personnel are misbehaving with innocent citizens, he added. “Without pulling the barrage out, neither people nor vehicles can enter the district headquarters, officiating CDO said. A staffer of the West Nepal Bus Entrepreneurs’ Committee said there are no fixed persons deployed to close and open the barricades, which has caused a lot of problems to the people.

“We have to open and close gates ourselves,” he said. The local people, too, are found opening and closing the gates while passing through Tamghas. The owner of a private vehicle questioned: “Where do we have to complain about this? Who listens our grudges?”
