Bed, oxygen being arranged for Jana Andolan injured boy

Kavre, March 5:

While the government is thinking of sending abroad Mukesh Kayastha of Banepa, who was injured in the Jana Andolan II, a comfortable bed and an oxygen cylinder is being arranged for him at his house by the local Sheer Memorial Hospital.

Earlier, the local administration and district leaders of the political parties reached an agreement to send him abroad for medical treatment and keep him in the local hospital until then. Since the home atmosphere

is more heartening, arrangements for a bed and oxygen cylinder are being made at his home, said Bikas Shrestha of the pressure group formed to demand full treatment of Mukesh. The group, alleging that the government was not paying due attention to Mukesh’s treatment, had shut Banepa last Thursday. Mukesh was taken home in a semi-conscious state last Monday after eleven months in Bir Hospital. “He will stay at home until he goes abroad,” said Mukesh’s father Krishna Man. Physicians, including neurologist Dr Upendra Devkota, referred him for treatment abroad.

Police shot Mukesh at his left temple at Banepa Tindobato on April 9, 2006 during the Jana Andolan II. Since then he cannot speak and his legs and right hand are motionless. He can move his left hand in a simple manner. Mukesh was a student of grade eight in local Bidyasagar boarding school.
