Bhairahawa, October 1:

Though Dashain began from yesterday, businessmen in Bhairahawa have nothing to cheer as locals are flocking to Sunauli bazaar in India for their Dashain shopping.

Hundreds of people from Nawalparasi, Palpa, Gulmi and Rupandehi are visiting Sunauli for the shopping, leaving markets in Butwal, Bhairahawa and Belhaiya deserted.

Omkar Gauchan, owner of a shop in Bhairahawa, said that business had decreased after people started going to Sunauli.

“The government should manage the open border or else our business will go bankrupt,” Gauchan added.
