Bhandari threatens another Madhes stir

Kathmandu, March 29

Chair of National Madhes Socialist Party Sharat Singh Bhandari has urged the party rank and file to prepare for another movement to ensure the rightful share of Madhesis, Janajatis and other marginalised communities.

Addressing the opening of the extended meeting of the party’s National Committee here today, Bhandari said there was no alternative to a movement now as the major parties had adopted a rigid stance against the demands of the United Democratic Madhesi Front.

Bhandari said the first amendment of the constitution made by the major parties was not enough to address the concerns of Madhesi and other marginalised communities.

He said his party would form the Samajwadi Rakshak Dasta to protect against degradation of the Chure range.

Bhandari also said that the Chure range should remain with the Madhes as the future of Madhes was linked to the Chure range.

Chairs of district chapters of NMSP and chairs of the party’s sister wings also participated in the meeting. Bhandari also presented his political document for discussion.
