Bhutanese camp secretaries warned
DAMAK: Bhutan Communist Party - Marxism-Leninism and Maoism - has threatened the camp secretaries of all the seven Bhutanese refugee camps in Morang and Jhapa against the latter’s decision to visit the countries resettling Bhutanese refugees.
The warning came after the secretaries filed their applications requesting the International Organization of Migration (IOM) and the UNHCR that they be allowed to visit countries welcoming refugees to take stock of the refugees’ situation.
The Party believes that their visit would promote the resettlement drive and will have adverse effect on the repatriation campaign, said BCP-MLM, issuing here a statement on Thursday.
“Secretaries should not indulge in such activities,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, reacting to the threat, the secretaries issued a statement, acknowledging that it was a mistake on their part to apply for a visit to the refugee resettling countries.
The release further added that the secretaries had submitted applications only to take apprisal of the resettled refugees in the third countries.
