JHAPA: A minor died after a motorcycle hit him at Garamani VDC in Jhapa on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Amit Tamang, 9, of the VDC.

The accident occurred while the bike, which was heading towards Birtamod from Bhadrapur, hit Tamang, who was a second-grader at Sukraraj Lower Secondary School of the VDC.

The two-wheeler hit the minor at the school gate. Critically injured Tamang was immediately rushed to Bhadrapur-based Omsai Pathivara Hospital for treatment.

The doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead on arrival. Meanwhile, the bike and its rider were taken under control.

Further investigation into the incident is under way, said the District Police Office, Jhapa.
